Why Short Papers? Freemasonry is a subject of seemingly endless fascination and complexity and all of us as Masons are in need of  our "daily advancement in Masonic knowledge". One way of  providing this is to build up a source of  materials that can be easily used at lodge meetings. A piece around 5 minutes in length can be fitted into most meetings.

Leading Educator Recieves Masonic Oration

The Catholic Church in Tasmania has, for the first time in its history, included in a funeral service the "masonic oration" about a late member of Freemasonry.

The oration for the late RW Bro Max Webberley (aged 81), who died in Hobart the previous week after a short illness, was presented at a service on Wednesday, March 21, 2007.

New Zealand's Kellerman Lecturer

In October 2006 Bro Kerry Nicholls, Senior Warden of Lodge Awatea No. 258 (Palmerston North) and a member of the Hawke's Bay Research Lodge No. 305, travelled to Ballarat in Victoria, Australia to represent New Zealand as the Kellerman Lecturer at the biennial conference of the Australian and New Zealand Masonic Research Council (ANZMRC).

Secrets on Display

Freemasons are usually quite secretive about their doings, but the Kalgoorlie-Boulder branch of the worldwide fraternal organisation has put some important pieces of regalia on display at the WA Museum.

?It?s pretty uncommon to have such a display,? agrees Doug Daws, who is a member of the local Lodge Sir William Wallace. But while it might be uncommon, it?s not necessarily unwelcome within the organisation itself. ?We?ve had the grand master mason of the Scotland Freemasonry come to Kalgoorlie and he was pretty excited, not at all disappointed,? says Doug. It seems that after a long time of being rather private and closed about their organisation that there is a move amongst Freemasons to open up a bit more to the public. And looking at the display at the museum, there is no reason to be closed, rather on the contrary. ?It tends to show the richness, the diversity and the general overall colour and character of a very proud organisation,? says Doug.
