'LODGE OF THE COAST' NO.7518E.C. GOLDEN JUBILEE    Coastweek - - Lodge of the Coast No. 7518E.C. as part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations embarked on an effective joy of presenting Freemasonry and its activities to the public.

As a commencement of Celebrating their 50 years of existence, Lodge of the Coast organized a charitable function to "Feed the Needy Children" at Mtwapa where about 1000 children from Mtwapa neighborhood were fed with a hearty meal at the Mombasa Coir Farm. The entire Brethren of the Fraternity joined together with their families and participated, in an extremely successful operation organized by Bro. Jitu Shah and Bro. Paresh Shah. Every member who participated in this programme was filled with pride in his Fraternity. Freemasonry was exposed to be a great force for good of humanity.

The "Feed the Needy Children" ended in a very positive note, showing the modern Free masonry as a charitable institution, a worldwide brother hood of men of goodwill who enjoy each other's fellowship and who work together to help those less fortunate members of the society. Freemasons are contributors to a wider world which benefits from our charity, compassion and self knowledge. Freemasonry is making a headway, but if Freemasonry's public image is to continue to develop, it is impossible to overstate the importance of Masons acting Masonically beyond the Lodge room. The impression  the public gets of the Fraternity, whether positive or negative will be in large measure judged by how each of us conducts ourselves in our daily lives and how good our public relations is. According to Shaahid Sheikh, Secretary of the Celebrations Committee: "The many ways that we as Masons extend service and charity to the community, are having an increasingly positive impact on how Freemasonry is viewed by the public. "Freemasonry cannot thrive in isolation, public relations and activities of this nature and other charitable activities must be made public to improve the perception of Freemasonry. "W. M. Bro. Prakash Parmar hopes to contribute similar and other charitable projects in the coming years." He further added: "Most people who are not Masons do not realize the good that is done for the general public although we contribute so much to charity worldwide. "Traditionally, we don't publicize like Round Tables, Lions Clubs, and Rotary Clubs who are associated with charity because of their public relations.  "In my opinion, we have got to get that information to the general public if we want to get recognition for our charity endeavors."
